É aquilo que muitos editores estão a tentar prever, depois de 2014 ter sido o ano do realismo contemporâneo, sucedendo a cenários futuristas, pós-apocalípticos, enredos com personagens de dentes afiados, e histórias plenas de fantasia. Não parece haver um consenso ainda, já que os adolescentes neste momento estão a ler um pouco de tudo, o que é bom. Algumas perspetivas aqui.

A convite da Coordenação do Ensino Português no Canadá, Rita Vilela desloca-se a Toronto na semana de 8 a 15 de novembro. A escritora estará presente na Toronto International Book Fair, Inspire, no TD Children‘s Stage, no dia 15, às 13h30, e durante a semana, visitará diferentes escolas, numa iniciativa de incentivo à leitura em português. Luísa Fortes da Cunha encontra-se na Austrália, onde já visitou Sydney, Melbourne e Camberra, para promover o livro e a leitura em língua portuguesa naquele país, numa iniciativa organizada pela Coordenação do Ensino Português na Austrália/Camões I.P. Frank Cottrell Boyce, escritor infantil e juvenil, conhecido pela obra Milhões (editado em Portugal pela Editorial Presença, em 2004), afirmou recentemente, num artigo escrito para o jornal The Guardian, que alguns métodos de ensino estão a poluir a experiência de leitura. O autor alerta que determinadas estratégias aplicadas para encorajar a literacia estão a afastar as crianças dos livros ao invés de as aproximar deles. Isto acontecerá devido a uma análise excessiva dos textos que retira o prazer da leitura. Cottrell Boyce explica que em vez de se deixar a criança apreciar a história, os professores muitas vezes interrompem o momento de leitura para dar indicações daquilo a que devem estar atentas para mais tarde realizarem diferentes exercícios. O autor acredita que isso afeta o gosto pela história que se está a ouvir ou a ler. Ele defende que «o prazer de ler é uma forma profunda e poderosa de atenção, uma espécie de pensamento lento». O escritor apoia ainda a leitura em voz alta, pois ela não tem de ser um ato solitário.
Promover o gosto pela leitura é pois o ponto de partida para a literacia. Se se não se fomentar esse prazer, então qualquer análise de uma história corre o risco de não se fixar e de a criança acabar por não refletir no texto por si, mas apenas com base em parâmetros fornecidos, o que esvazia toda a experiência de leitura.

Em 2015 realiza-se o primeiro encontro da lusofonia dedicado à literatura infantil e juvenil. Este evento é organizado pela Fundação O Século, com o patrocínio da Secretaria de Estado da Cultura e com os apoios da Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores, da Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações e do Plano Nacional de Leitura. O encontro decorrerá entre os dias 2 e 7 de fevereiro, no espaço da Fundação O Século, em São Pedro do Estoril.
Já está confirmada a presença de diversos autores como António Torrado, Ondjaki, Margarida Fonseca Santos, Carla Maia de Almeida, Isabel Minhós Martins, David Machado, Teresa Calçada, Fernando Pinto do Amaral e Cláudia Marques; os ilustradores André Letria, Catarina Sobral, Danuta Wojciechowska; e os contadores de histórias António Fontinha, Rudolfo Castro, Sónia Gameiro, Maurício Leite (Brasil).
Além de sessões nas escolas, no programa do evento constam já debates com especialistas dedicados a temas como a literatura infantil, a importância da família na educação para a leitura e também sobre a edição e o mercado da literatura infantil e juvenil.

As autoras de romances femininos Sophie Kinsella e Cecilia Ahern apostam na escrita para adolescentes com novas histórias dedicadas a esta faixa etária.
Sophie Kinsella, autora best-seller de Louca por Compras, lançará Finding Audrey, sobre uma jovem de catorze anos que recupera de um distúrbio de ansiedade. A história deverá misturar comédia familiar, com romance e auto-descoberta. A publicação em inglês está prevista para o verão de 2015.
O romance para jovens adultos de Cecelia Ahern, conhecida por PS, I Love You, intitula-se Flawed, e conta já com uma sequela, Perfect, com publicação prevista para 2016 e 2017, respetivamente. O enredo tem como cenário uma sociedade futurista em que a perfeição é valorizada e aqueles que apresentam defeitos e que cometem atos de desobediência ou de rebelião são marcados na pele com a letra F.
